Once you have made the decision that PrEP is the tool for you all you need to do to get started using PrEP is to see a doctor, get a prescription, and start taking it.
1. Get a test
You must have an HIV test to start PrEP. Your doctor will also test you for other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Don’t worry, you can get a prescription and start PrEP right away – and get any STI treatment you need.
You can ask about vaccinations for sexual health like hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and HPV.
3. Take PrEP

Return to your doctor for regular HIV and STI screening, and to get a new prescription to keep taking PrEP.
